B10 Football is BACK! We’re talking all about it throughout the entire show today. The schools took a vote and talked more with their medical advisors about the safety of a college football season. The season will be 8 games (with 1 extra game for a championship), but without the schedules just yet – we’re not sure exactly what games those might be.
Huge’s Opening Opinion:
In our first hour we were joined by D2 Head Football Coach at Grand Valley State, Matt Mitchell. Matt joined us to discuss the news about the B10, and also gave us an update on what things have been like for him and his players at GVSU. He and Huge also talked about when Matt and his players will take the field again. We also took your comments, texts, and calls about the return of College Football.

We continued the conversation regarding the B10 bringing their season back to start in October with an 8 game schedule with addition of a championship game. We went to Ann Arbor for this hour to get a Wolverine perspective on everything happening. First we were joined by Sam Webb to talk about some of the reasons as to why a season is now going to happen – one of those reasons being the accessibility to rapid testing for student athletes.

We were then joined by Chris Balas to talk about some more recent news regarding the U-M football team. Dylan McCaffrey and Niko Collins are no longer a part of the team. According to Balas, McCaffrey plans to transfer and Collins plans to get ready declare for the NFL.

In our final hour we were joined by NY Times Best-Selling Author John U. Bacon to get his thoughts on the B10 coming back for a season. Huge and John talked about how the science and medical data are really what drove the presidents and chancellors to change their decision. John also brought up some of the other outside factors that he believed had an influence.

Dr. K from Metro Health also joined us shortly after John to talk more about the medical data and the accessibility to testing for the athletes and how these are ultimately the true reasons why we’ll be seeing some college football. Huge and Dr. K also went through some of the guidelines for return to play as it relates to athletes testing positive.

Last but not least, we were joined by Kyle Austin from MLive to get a Spartan perspective on all of this. Kyle gave us his perspective on what he thinks the schedule could look like for the B10 and much more. Huge and Kyle also spoke briefly on college basketball and how strange it is that their haven’t really been any issues with that.
