To open up the show today, Huge talked a little about the Tigers win over the Royals last night. He also went through the batting averages for the 4-2 Tigers. Huge also broke the news that the MIAA has canceled the fall football season for Hope College, Alma College and Albion College. There’s a chance they could play up to 5 games this spring depending on where we’re at with Covid at that point. Moving away from this – the NHL comes back to play this weekend, and we wanted to get some of our hockey insiders to talk about it. In our first hour we were joined by Grand Rapids Griffins Assistant Head Coach Mike Knuble to catch up on what he’s been doing during his off time and to talk about what he’s looking forward to most this season. We were then joined by the Red Wings Head Coach Jeff Blashill for an update and to get his thoughts on how things will play out. Huge also threw out the Huge Question of the Day: What do the Red Wings need to do to become a playoff team again?
The NHL comes back to play this weekend in the 2 hubs in Edmonton and Toronto, and we wanted to get some of our hockey insiders to talk about it. In the beginning of our second hour we were joined by Grand Rapids Griffins Head Coach Ben Simon to see how he thinks the NHL is handling everything during this pandemic. He also gave us his thoughts about how the season may look different and he told us who he thinks might come out on top at the end of the season. Then, former Red Wings forward Darren McCarty joined us to tell us what he’s been up to this year and then to take a closer look at our Red Wings roster. Darren and Huge talked about the hub, a draft lottery, and even discussed the Detroit Tigers.
In our final hour we were joined by the voice of the Grand Rapids Griffins Bob Kaser to continue the hockey conversation. News recently broke that the AHL season should be back in December so Bob gave us his feelings on this. Huge and Bob discussed how they think the Wings will do this season, what players to keep an eye out for, and they even talked about some Detroit Tigers baseball. The voice of the Red Wings Ken Kal then called in to go further in depth with the Wings and to also answer the Huge question of the day. To end the show, we were joined by Dave and Carol Van Andel to talk about the Van Andel Institute and what they’re doing for Cancer & Parkinson’s research.
